I love shnflac and dime, etc. You have to spread the wealth by sharing. If you get greedy, you get booted. I try to keep my ratio at 1:1--which isn't easy unless you catch a lot of swarms. So keep us posted, one and all.

if i may butt in, It's "illegal" also, but the torrent sites don't give a F and I don't either.
Weir can't afford to sue everyone, just threaten and BS,
Torrent on!!

Just one point to add: the bit torrent sites, at least the ones that host live music, such as bt.etree, shnflac, dimeadozen, and a couple of others i've checked out, do not allow any commercially released music to be torrented out.

And so, maybe, it's only in part illegal (though i've seen forum topics on other sites that leaves me to think that this is still up for debate), because i can assure you that there are bands that do allow the trading of their music via bit torrent, and i believe etree _only_ allows "trade friendly" bands.

don't know really,i could be wrong but it's not a quick access like the archive and a lot of people don't do torrents.another thing about torrents you have to share back what you downloaded.you got to share, maybe that's the point everybody missed.i've seen torrent sites for sbd for santana,doors,zep,floyd,rush,hendrix,joplin,etc..share the groove.

I would note that from a legal standpoint, money doesn't have to change hands for it to be considered a profitable exchange. Trading or sharing is just as 'illegal' if everyone gets something in the exchange (ie, I give you this great SBD and you give me an equally valuable one, etc.).

So, if you don't like folks doing it (ie, Bob, etc), then you wouldn't like it in any format (selling, trading, sharing).

Whoops--realize this looks out of place here, but was responding to the side track on torrenting legality, etc. And, of course, as I already stated, I am one of those that really feels this stuff is in a grey area in which 'sharing' (broadly defined) should be tolerated since all parties benefit, and to my mind, no one has yet demonstrated 'damage' due to the process.

I KNOW that I, singlehandedly increased the income stream of GDP by having brow beaten dozens of people into becoming heads (and they have repeatedly purchased items legitimately following their indoctrination at my hands). I maintain that tradiing/sharing of live material REALLY does benefit the bands.

I agree with the previous post about sharing and torrenting benefiting the bands. I am a rabid Deadhead and can't get enough. My feeling is that most Deadheads are the same way. Even if, say for instance 12/31/76 is up on a torrent, being the obsessed collector of their music that I am, I'll still be more than happy to buy the official release. This is how obsessed we are that we go shell out the money just to get the FULL show. I believe the show in circulation is missing the last two songs.
I don't know how they do it (the grateful dead) but they get you hooked!
